Physical Activity Champions Inspiring Change

On Thursday 30th April, 20 pupils from Years 8 and 9 took part in the first stage of our exciting Physical Activity Champions project, led by Gemma from Spark Active.

The project aims to increase participation in physical activity by empowering young people to shape opportunities for their peers. During the session, pupils explored what it means to be a Physical Activity Champion and shared a range of creative ideas about how to encourage more students to get involved in sport and physical activity, whether for enjoyment, wellbeing or competitive participation.

The enthusiasm, teamwork and thoughtful discussions demonstrated by our pupils were outstanding. They identified barriers to participation, considered the needs of different groups of students and began developing innovative solutions that could make a real difference within our school community.

The session concluded with the group agreeing on their next steps. Working collaboratively, they will now design, develop and trial their own initiative to promote greater engagement in physical activity across the school.

We look forward to seeing their ideas come to life and the positive impact they will have on encouraging more pupils to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
